Home Page   GMAT - Graduate Management Admission Test

The GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) is a challenging computer-adaptive test which measures quantitative, verbal reasoning and analytical writing skills. It is meant mainly for people wishing to pursue post-graduate business studies. During the application process, the weight given to the GMAT by MBA programs varies from programme to programme, bearing in mind that some of the other factors considered are candidates’ performance during their undergraduate studies, work experience, TOEFL/IELTS/TOEIC score, letters of recommendation and essays.

Analytical Writing Assignment (AWA)
This is the written section of the GMAT and consists of two essays. In the first, you are asked to examine and analyse an argument, and in the second, you are asked to consider and analyse an issue. You are given 30 minutes for each essay.

Quantitative section
This consists of 37 multiple choice questions based mainly on problem solving and data presentation. You are given 75 minutes to complete this section of the test.

Verbal section
This consists of 41 multiple choice questions, which test reading comprehension, analytical reasoning skills and sentence correction (for grammatical mistakes. You are given 75 minutes for this section.

Scores
Each of the essays is graded on a scale of 0-3 (total 6 points).
The score for the Quantitative and Verbal sections is within a range of 200 to 800.

Immediately after the test you will receive an unofficial score report, which will include the quantitative and verbal scores. For the official score report, including the AWA, you will have to wait up to about 3 weeks. Should you have deadline issues, please contact your school to ensure they will accept the unofficial scores provisionally.
The score for the Quantitative and Verbal sections is within a range of 200 to 800.

Breaks
After both the AWA and Quantitative sections, there are 2 optional ten-minute l breaks. Please remember that when you leave the testing room for your break, you must go immediately to the check in area for biometric fingerprinting. You are required to do the same before entering the testing room to resume with the test. This procedure applies to both breaks.
